David's Ordination - 4th July

On Saturday 4th July David Morris will be ordained deacon in Worcester Cathedral at 3pm. We hope lots of people will come and support him on this great occasion, which is also a significant one for the whole parish as David moves into this ministry with us in Droitwich. Whilst everyone is welcome, if you would like a ticket to guarantee a seat in the cathedral please would you let the parish office know as soon as possible. Whether or not you can come to the service, please pray for David and his family as he prepares for ordination.

Eat Pud (Pudding Please) - 3rd July

7.30 at St Nicholas' on July 3rd

Tickets are available from today for Pudding Please.... plenty of pud, with no need to be good and eat your main course first!

A £5 ticket gets you.... cheese and biscuits or pate to get you started, a glass of wine or juice, a choice of lots of pud with re-fills (no Oliver Twist moments here!), and coffee or tea to finish. Come prepared to buy raffle tickets, maybe pop a donation in the pot for another glass of wine, and take part in a chance to win a bottle of whisky. Most of all, come prepared to enjoy an evening with friends. If you want to come and have dietary issues we ought to know about, please tell Nina Owen (075285 47917, email nina.owen@dunelm.org.uk). If you can make a pud (expenses available) please tell Nina too.

Tickets from Nina or from the Parish Centre, or at Sunday services.

Sermon Series - Amos

The PCC has agreed that this summer we will take up the option offered by the lectionary to devise our own series of readings on some Sundays after Trinity and we have set aside two blocks of time to do this. From 21 June to 19 July we will be reading the book of Amos. This pattern will affect all the readings at Sunday morning services so particularly if you are a lesson-reader we will make sure you know in good time what the new readings are.

At the 5pm services we shall use the standard principle service readings (ie those we would normally have used in the morning) so there will still be an opportunity to continue our Year B reading of Mark over these five weeks.

At the end of the summer we will be reading about Christian giving.

Prayer Chain

As part of our renewed commitment to both prayer and pastoral care, we have a parish prayer chain to help us respond quickly to urgent or very particular requests for intercession, especially where it may not be appropriate to place someone’s name on the more public prayer list.

If you have such a request please contact Rita Holden or, if she is not available, Sheila Banyard (see contacts)

If you would like to join the chain please ask Rita for more information.

St Augustine’s Open Day - Saturday 23 May

St Augustine’s will be open from 10am to 4pm. Our focus will be on the history of the church and its site. Mike Wall will be giving a talk about the building at 12.30pm and there will be bellringing from 2.15 to 3.15pm.
Between the church and churchyard significant bits of our history cover the Roman, Saxon, Medieval and Civil War periods, the early 18th and late 19th centuries and the modern era, so there’s something for most historical tastes.
Everyone is invited. Light refreshments will also be served
