Dates for your diary

Make a note of the following dates, and see what you can join in with:
  • 10th September: Salt Day. We’ll be running our popular Cafe@theCentre and will need helpers and cakes. Sign-up lists will be out in August.
  • 10th September: Sponsored Bike Ride around any of the local churches. Why not take part and finish at St Andrew’s where you can have tea and cake at the Cafe? To ride (or walk or run) contact Helen Peberdy (772847) or David Owen (771516). Helpers will be needed to welcome those who call in at our churches. Sign-up lists will be available nearer the time.
  • 13th September: Peru Evening - Fred and Margaret Trethewey will be talking about their time in our link diocese in Peru.
  • 30th September: Puddings will be on the menu. For those with midriff issues, start slimming now!

Which way next? Exploring God’s call.

If you are wondering where God might be leading you in your Christian journey, this is for you. A group from across the deanery will be meeting once a month during the autumn starting on 12th September at 7.30pm in Droitwich to look at how God calls us and how we understand his call. As well as exploring our own personal vocation this is a chance to support other people in exploring theirs. It’s for anyone at any stage of considering ‘What next?’, however tentatively or vaguely, and it’s about every kind of calling, not just ‘churchy’ ones! Please ask your parish clergy for a flier with more details or contact Sheila Banyard (01905 773134) sk.banyard@virgin.net

A divinely inspired welcome

Divine Inspiration is something we all need. In this case, we’ve got it, because Divine Inspiration is also the name of a highly recommended team helping churches work out how to welcome visitors every day of the week. Our Rural Dean, Sheila Banyard, together with our diocesan church buildings officer, is hosting a workshop in St Andrew’s and the Parish Centre this autumn. “Working on your welcome, seven days a week” takes place on Saturday 17th September from 10am to 3pm. To reserve a place, contact Andrew Mottram on 01905 732808, email amottram@cofe-worcester.org.uk We want to make more of our buildings and get them open to visitors. Come along on this day if you’re interested in helping us open Droitwich churches through the week, and making them welcoming buildings.

Alpha Course

From the beginning of October there will be an Alpha Course running in Worcester, open to churches across the local area. Alpha is a nationally acclaimed course that has helped hundreds of people to discover a vibrant Christian faith. If we have people who would like to join the course, we need to sign up now. So...
  • Do you know someone who would be interested in finding out more about what Christians believe and how a Christian faith can help and sustain us on a daily basis?
  • Could you lead, or co-lead a small group of about 10 people meeting weekly between October and December? (Full guidance will be given)
  • Would you like to find out more about Alpha, even if you are not sure about joining the course this time?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, contact Doug Chaplin (01905 798929) or David Owen (01905 771516).
