Parish Summer Fete - Saturday June 1st (Update)

• 11am-3pm Saturday 1st June in St Andrew’s Garden.
• Raffle tickets are now available in each of our churches. 
• Please take some and sell as many as you can! 

This year we will be holding a Parish Summer Fete in the lovely St Andrew’s Garden at the heart of our town. Over the past two years the Garden has been regenerated, tidied and planted and it is now almost ready to ‘open’. 

There is still work to do and we are raising funds for fencing and the installation of grilles covering the gulley between the Church and the Garden.  We hope the proceeds of the Parish Summer Fete will go a long way towards completing this work so that the Garden can become a relaxing green space at the centre of the town.

How can you help?

• Buy books of raffle tickets (great prizes!) to sell to your friends and family
• Donate items for stalls: bric-a-brac, books, plants, tombola, bottle (anything from ketchup to champagne!) cake, craft
• Put up a poster or give out leaflets
• Serve on a stall
• Serve tea, coffee and soft drinks
• Organise a game – e.g. Treasure Hunt, Skittles
• Organise a BBQ
• Put up and taking down stalls 
• Tell your friends and family – and coming along!

Pentecost Prayer & Praise - 19th May

In addition to our morning services (all at the usual times) we will have an informal service of prayer and praise at 5pm at St Nicholas’ Church, followed by refreshments.

Ascension Day - Thursday 9th May

Thursday 9th May is Ascension Day and you are warmly invited to join our Parish Celebration at St Augustine’s. This begins with a Eucharist at 7.30pm and continues afterwards with a bonfire and barbecue.

(There is no morning service at 9.30.)

United Service - Sunday 21st April

Please make sure you have this year's united service and Annual Meeting in your diary now. We have a United Parish Eucharist at 10.00am on Sunday 21st April, at St Andrew's.

This will be immediately followed by our annual meeting of parishioners, and the annual church meeting. (See post below). It is an opportunity to gather together and not only do the necessary business but reflect on our vision and how we can move forward.

Please try to make time not only for worship and our meeting, but for lunch afterwards. I hope you will bring some food to share, and leave it in the parish centre before the service.

Annual Meeting of Parishioners, and the Annual Church Meeting - Sunday 21st April

The above meetings will take place immediately after the 10am United Service at St Andrews.

It is an opportunity to gather together and not only do the necessary business but reflect on our vision and how we can move forward.

This will be followed by a shared lunch. We hope you will bring some food to share, and leave it in the Parish Centre before the service.

5.00pm   Short Evening Prayer followed by discussion until 6.00pm
The discussion material we are using is recommended by the Diocese and was developed last year in Canterbury, on "Being a Welcoming Church"
